EFTERKLANG ANNOUNCE 3rd ALBUM - MAGIC CHAIRS

Exactly one month after the release of their ambitious audio-visual project Performing Parades (cd+dvd&lp+dvd, The Leaf Label), Danish experimental popsters Efterklang Magic Chairs have announced details of the band´s third full-length album. The album introduces a new Efterklang sound and also marks the beginning of their new setup, where Rumraket (Slaraffenland, Taxi Taxi!) will release in Scandinavia and legendary label 4AD (TV on the Radio, Bon Iver, Cocteau Twins) will release Efterklang’s music in the remaining parts of the world.
February 22nd 2010 Magic Chairs will be released across the globe. Already today it is possible to download and listen to the opening track of the album Modern Drift.
On the new record, Efterklang have tried to strip their music down to its core and in true ‘rock n roll’ fashion the band road tested the new material on an American tour, before recording the songs in Denmark during the summer. It was a new approach for the band and the result is possibly the most accessible and immediate Efterklang album to date and a brave move for the band known for its complex electroacoustics and grandiose orchestrations.
‘Magic Chairs feels like a “different” Efterklang album to us as the songs are much easier to grasp. The album is closely connected to the many concerts we played in the wake of Parades and like our live concerts Casper has taken on the role as lead singer on this new record as well. The songs draw on inspiration from pop song structures and there are a lot of drums and it was fun to record!’ says Rasmus Stolberg from Efterklang
As usual Efterklang have produced their album themselves, but for the mixing Efterklang drafted in English engineer-producer Gareth Jones (Nick Cave, Depeche Mode, Grizzly Bear) and had him mix the album in London. For the artwork Efterklang are continuing their rewarding collaboration with Danish design-duo Hvass&Hannibal and along with the track titles the front cover for Magic Chairs has also been revealed today.
